Web Content Specialist

We are seeking a self-motivated, self-directed Web Content Specialist who will work with our highly energetic and professional communications department. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the corporate Internet and intranet websites. The Ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, a passion for technology, extensive XHTML/CSS development experience and the ability to get up-to-speed quickly.

Required Skills and Responsibilities

  • The ability to work in a team environment, from making pixel-perfect web and email content that meets design requirements to integrating code with the back-end development team.
  • A strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks and Dreamweaver.
  • Strong XHTML skills.
  • A deep understanding of CSS.
  • A good ideology for managing maintainable, scalable and cross-browser code across large sites.
  • Monitoring and reporting on website performance.
  • Ensuring digital outreach plans and programs are aligned with the ODA's strategic business objectives.
  • Working knowledge of CMS, and CMS modules and components.

Education

  • Post-secondary education in e-business marketing, publishing or a communications-related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience working in a communications environment with progressive responsibilities in digital/technology outreach.

Knowledge and Other Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong front-end web development knowledge, including hands-on programming with HTML, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of the technical and creative aspects of online practices, including site architecture, user experience, interface design and data integration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social media platforms.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Photo and audio/video optimization skills are an asset.
  • Knowledge of DNS, IP and domain pointing will be an asset.
