Top 100™ Awards Recognizes Top Female Achievers From Across Canada

TORONTO, ON – November 29, 2010 – The Ontario Dental Association (ODA) congratulates Dr. Lynn Tomkins on being announced as a recipient of the prestigious 2010 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100™ Awards, in the KPMG Professionals award category.
“In my role as President of the ODA, I am intensely proud and grateful for the opportunity to represent my peers and support them in our efforts to deliver high quality care to our patients,” said Dr. Tomkins. “It is an honour to be awarded this level of recognition and to be acknowledged among such an esteemed group of women.”
The Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards is Canada’s most recognizable award for the country's highest achieving female leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. “Dr. Tomkins has not only contributed greatly to the oral health of the patients she cares for in her private practice, but for Ontarians across the province,” said Dr. Ira Kirshen, Past President of the ODA. “As President of the ODA, her strong leadership and vision has led to significant improvements in many aspects of the profession.”A 1981 Honours graduate of the University of Toronto's Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Tomkins maintains a general private practice in Toronto with her husband and partner, Dr. Daniel Kmiecik. She is also an Associate in Dentistry and Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Oral Medicine at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Dentistry.
Dr. Tomkins is a member of numerous professional dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Academy of Dentistry International, and the International College of Dentists, and has held all executive positions within the Toronto Central Dental Society. She is a Past President of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honour Dental Society, and was inducted upon graduation from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. She is also a member of the Anderson Study Club. As Student Governor, she was the first woman to serve on the CDA's Board of Governors.

Dr. Tomkins will be celebrated November 29 at the Top 100 Awards Gala Dinner at the Allstream Centre in Toronto. The gala is the finale of a full-day celebration that offers Top 100 Winners an exclusive morning of networking and professional development. The morning session will be followed by a Summit which allows participants the opportunity to meet Award recipients and enjoy an afternoon of professional development.
