Tooth wear is the loss of healthy structure for reasons other than caries. Tooth wear may decrease proper chewing ability and noticeably change the smile’s appearance. Dental wear is usually caused by: abrasion, attrition, abfraction and erosion.
The purpose of this lecture is to review:
- the causes and patterns of dental wear
- the clinical treatment modalities for treating the generalized and localized, mostly anterior, dental wear
