We are closely monitoring city, provincial and federal public health and safety measures. Since we are in a constantly shifting environment, our health and safety protocols are subject to change.

What You Need to Know to Attend the NDS

  • If you have any symptoms of illness, please do not attend the NDS.
  • You are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the Ontario provincial government, to enter the NDS. (See the vaccination section below).
  • For attendees with a valid exemption, the ODA will only be accepting Ontario government-issued QR codes for proof of medical exemption for Ontario residents. Please read further for information about other exceptions. (Recently updated)
  • Please self-screen for symptoms each day before attending the NDS. For guidance on self-screening, see the Toronto Public Health poster.
  • You will need to show proof of vaccination at the Registration Desk when you arrive at the NDS.
  • You will receive a wristband indicating you’ve had your QR code scanned (Canadian residents) or other valid proof verified (international residents). The wristband must be worn for the duration of NDS. If you lose or remove your wristband, you will have to show your proof-of-vaccination again to receive another one.

Vaccination

You are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the Ontario provincial government, to enter the NDS. You must provide proof-of-vaccination and a valid government-issued ID with your full name and date of birth on site at the event.

Note: the government’s definition of fully vaccinated may change before the event. Please ensure you able to meet any updated requirements.

You must show both government-issued photo identification (with your full name and date of birth) and proof-of-vaccination when you check-in at the registration desk. For Canadian residents, you must show your enhanced vaccination certificate (on a mobile device or hard copy) with a scannable QR code; others may show whatever constitutes proof-of-vaccination in your home jurisdiction.

Note: Other places of business such as hotels, restaurants and fitness/spa facilities will have their own proof-of-vaccination requirements. Please contact them or look at their website for any health and safety details.

Medical or Religious Exemptions

The Ontario government recognizes a limited number of exemptions to vaccination. Please review the applicable rules and ensure that your exemption is recognized and (as necessary) registered with Ontario health authorities.

For those with a valid medical exemption as set out by the Ontario Government, you will be required to provide a QR code issued by the Ontario government. Get more information.

Requests to be exempt from vaccination for religious or medical reasons are required to be submitted with appropriate documentation to rpita@oda.ca by no later than end-of-day, Friday, October 7, 2022, so that the ODA has sufficient time to review and make a determination about the exemption or to ask for further information if required.

We must as an organization make every effort to ensure the protection of the many participants who will attend at the NDS. We do hope to see you at our next event once the current pandemic resolves and we are able to lift the current restrictions.

The ODA will not reimburse any attendee for any costs for securing proof-of-vaccination or medical exemption.

Screening

Please self-screen for symptoms, each day before attending the NDS. For guidance on self-screening, see the Toronto Public Health poster. Please do not attend the event if you have tested positive for COVID-19 within the five days before the NDS or have any symptoms of COVID-19 or other illness.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

While face masks are not mandatory, they are known to be a tool that contributes to reduced spread of COVID-19. We strongly recommend that all attendees wear a face mask that covers their mouth, nose and chin, at all times while attending the NDS except when eating or drinking.

Face masks may be required for hotels, restaurants, transportation and special events venues outside of the NDS. Please ensure you are aware of the current requirements of any external facilities.

Hand Hygiene

Hand hygiene is the foundation of any safety plan. We encourage all event attendees, exhibitors, speakers, and staff to either wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer frequently throughout the day.
