Implant therapy has increasingly gained recognition in the realm of restorative dentistry, as methods of restoring dentition develop and improve. Thus far, the safety, predictability, and versatility in prosthetic options have made implant therapy a popular option from a single tooth restoration to the full-arch rehabilitation. However, rapidly emerging literature-based evidence regarding peri-implantitis has been casting a shadow on implants more frequently. These diseases have various etiologic evolution and devastating progression, leading to the patients’ discomfort, compromised aesthetics, and eventual implant loss. This continually challenging disease around the dental implants are among us, and the diagnosis, management and prevention protocols were not standardized until 2017 AAP classification of peri-implant diseases shed some light on this clinical reality.
